The scanning process is easy and straightforward! To start off, you can pick between easy scan, where you can manually move around the scanner, or table scan, where object is turn around on a turntable.
I’m really impressed by a couple of points that I did discover. In the software, you can use the automatic alignment, but there is also a way to do it manually. You can kind of click on some points on the object, and it will ultimately fix it. You can also reorient within the software so you can make sure the bottom is in line with the floor planes so that when you export it, there’s less to do.
As mentioned, the Mole is designed for small to medium sized objects, so it performs optimally when scanning items in that range, and the best results were obtained on Table Mode, thanks to the turntable providing a constant and stable turning motion.

For the price this thing is awesome! I am an engineer with a decade of CAD experience so this was easy to use and cleanup scans. Been wanting to 3D print a new one if these car bezels. Well now I can!
The Mile scanner is fantastic for medium to larger 3D scanning. It picks up amazing detail and is very easy to use. The software does a great job aligning multiple scans and you usually end up with a useable scan that does not even need any kind of repair. I scanned an Indiana Joes fertility idol in one scan and picked up all the detail. I also was able to scan and Art Nouveau statue in a single scan as well and it was a darker bronze with a patina. It is very easy to adjust the brightness to capture dark objects and their detail. It is by no means a professional scanner, but for its price point it is really close. It tends to soften sharp detail slightly but that could easily be sharpened back up in other software. I also love that the tracking in the software is very forgiving and it rarely loses tracking and if it does nine out of ten times it will pick it back up fairly easily. I would highly recommend this to anyone that needs good useable scans but does not have the budget for a higher end scanner. It is the first low to mid range scanner that I am actually able to get good useable scans from without a lot of hassle.
Not only did they make an amazing combination of tech advances in scanning in an easy to handle form factor, they provided free software that doesn’t have a huge learning curve. For just the fact you can start a scan, then reposition the object, then append the areas you missed is remarkable. And all this for a great price, even at full price!
