This this is amazing with cheap tricks up your sleeve

So the accuracy numbers in real life are a little worse than advertised. 0.25mm error on table scan, and 0.5mm error on free scan but this thing scans well.

There's just a couple cheap tricks to get great scans. First use rock climbing chalk fine dust to coat the object to make it more visible in nearIR light. Then attach a point cloud alignment assist ball to the object. I use white styrofoam balls from DollarStore. Match the size of the balls to the size of the object. Use folded over aluminum tape, this will make it double sided to attach the balls to the easiest part of the object where you can slice the balls off after alignment. The company's alignment algorithm is really stupid. It doesn't understand anything on screen. It just aligns cluds of points so theres maximum overlap. It doesn't even understand directions for the objects. The styrofoam balls attached to your object will compensate for half assed coding on the programmers part who wrote the alignment software. But hey this stuff is cheap so for what it costs its amazing. And styrofoam balls are also cheap.

The only other thing I'd say is match the exposure to the color of the object. Black objects need high exposure, white objects need lowest. The graph on the side should look like a purple mountain range with tall peaks and roudned hills. If it's not that you need to do more work to set the scanning parameters or adjust the scanner's distance from the object.

Enjoy!
