Most of my scans are of small sculptures, which this is perfect for. No more issues with maintaining the proper scanning distance by hand. Best of all it is fast with minimal setup. I’m extremely pleased with the results!
Der Moose funktioniert soweit gut aber ich wünschte die Software würde besser erklärt.
I find the Scanner Great. So its mow easy to make a gaussian splat. And its from price for Hobby Creator ok. I also bought the extension for the instaX Camera. The gaussian splat is better then As without. But from this the screws to place it on the Raven Not fitting really.
Llevo pocos días con el pero todo lo que esperaba del escáner y sorprendido al tener un coste bajo, la calidad que tiene. Solo poner una pega el cable, se desconecta algunas veces.
First scan, right out of the box was amazing. It’s the fastest I’ve ever used by far and the tracking is so smart. Most scans I do with my other scanners require careful distance and multiple scans to create a model. The Fox grabbed all of the details at a comfortable distance and all in one capture! Because of all the improvements they packed into the device, it’s amazing that it’s such a low cost. I officially have my new favorite work horse, thanks 3Dmakerpro!
Each scan can be better controlles using a pre-scan button after configuring the options.
Excellent for rapid surveys. Decent mono pointcloud quality. Full photo documentation of scanning path. That is what I need. Not so good with colour data (but sufficient) and gaussian splatting (it's hard to extract data, and effect is rather blurry) if it's anyones goal.
Strong need to use third party software as long as RayStudio and RayCraft have functionality lacks.
But still - great equipment for my needs - with very good price.
Tip: If you are using it for architectural surveys - don't try to collect couple of floors at once - better it will be to combine data in software, since one scan can gain some level pivot
If the device shows you that you lost your tracking during scanning - go on, in most cases your mono scan will still be complete. The colour one however will be damaged.
First of all I must say that I haven't had the time to test the Raven in depth but I got a first impression. This impression is a mixed one.
I want to use this scanner for architecture and foremost MEP. As we do lots reverse engineering of potable water systems, duct systems and any kind of piping a dense and somehow accurate (2 cm is enough) point cloud is crucial to our little business. Sometimes I need tiny details from pipes and structures - so to say a very dense point cloud. I think this scanner is good for architecture but when it comes to details point clouds are not dense enough. While you could probably achieve good results with 3 -4 scan from one area Raystudio, which is nessasary to export a usable point cloud, leaves you with heavy filtering not enough options to control the result. This piece of software seems to be under development but unfortunately you need it to convert your scans to E57, PLY, LAS and so on.
Second the scanner seems to loose track randomly, at least what I can see on its display. When this happens you could go on scanning but you won't have anymore visual control of what you are scanning.
Accuracy looks good to me and is definitely a step up from IPhone. It's relatively easy to understand it and that's good. Because 3DMakerPro leaves you without a usable manual nor extensive online ressources. So you got to figure it out yourself or ask in forum for help.
Once 3DMakerPro works more on fírm- and software the Raven will be a decent scanner even compared to twice as expensive devices.
I'm very new with 3d scanners. The price is what caught my eye. It seems to be a very straight forward unit. But I'm an over thinker.... I was not successful finding any video or clear instruction on the Fox but lots on moose. Appears to be similar and its gotten me to where I can align scans (don't over think it... very easy). I have had no success with the auto align though. For me no big deal. My first scan was of a Gumby toy. After watching a few videos on the moose it started to make sense. In the end I was able to 3d print the toy and compared to the original it was shocking and relieving that the scan was virtually the same size as the toy. Now im pretty excited. The more I use it the better im getting. It isn't a color scanner and maybe its my lack of experience but scaning textured items I haven't gotten a good scan but I think that is a me problem not the scanner. Anyways I'm happy with it. Affordable to get into this scanning world. Its pretty neat actually! I say buy it!
It's the perfect compromise between performance and price! Great for beginners!
I have tested the Raven in both indoor and outdoor environments (these weren't actual jobs, just preliminary tests to understand how the instrument works), though still without the RTK module.
In open spaces, it performs flawlessly with no issues at all. However, in small indoor spaces (such as corridors and small rooms like storage closets and laundries), the Raven's screen appears to go haywire. Despite this on-screen behavior, during post-processing, the data turned out to be fully present and intact.
Moving forward, I plan to test scanning these smaller environments using checkerboard targets.
Perfect for the price and introduce you basics in 3d scaning
Nice entry-level model. It takes some practice. I notice that it is quite prone to drifting. Even though using markers isn't really necessary, I started using them anyway. It improved enormously. Much less drifting, better quality scans.
Too soon to tell for certain but so far (two scans) the Fox scanner has performed well especially compared to my Creality Lizard from several years ago.
The scanner works great at capturing the fine details. Just watch the distance curves...
Easy to use but the cable sucks 😂 But overall a great 3d scanner. For me it was a great choice. Is there no way to get a 2 way cable only Usb-c? :D
