Tech Specs

1. Which software can I use to process my scanning data?
You can process your scanning data using Ray Studio, the official companion software for all 3DMakerPro spatial scanners. Ray Studio fully supports advanced features, including color point clouds and Gaussian Splatting, providing high-quality 3D results with ease.
2. What are the system requirements for Ray Studio?
- Recommended Specs: Intel Core i7 (or better), 64GB RAM, and NVIDIA RTX 4060 (16GB VRAM).
- Minimum Specs: Intel Core i7, 32GB RAM, and NVIDIA RTX 3060 (8GB VRAM).
- OS Requirement: Windows 10/11 (64-bit) for both configurations.
3. Is there a minimum scanning distance for the Raven? Does the 10m mention mean it cannot scan closer objects?
Not at all. You can scan from as close as 50 cm. Our specified accuracy is ~2 cm across the entire 50 cm to 10 m range, with 10 meters serving as the optimal baseline for professional performance.
4. What is the difference between Raven and iPhone LiDAR?
While iPhone LiDAR (available on Pro models) is a great entry point for casual room scanning and AR, Raven LiDAR is a professional-grade spatial scanner designed for high-precision engineering and 3D modeling.
5. What's the difference between the Raven LiDAR Scanner and the Eagle LiDAR Scanner?
a) Screen: Raven has a 3.9'' AMOLED HD touchscreen, while Eagle has a 3.5'' screen. Raven's larger display makes operation more convenient.
b) Camera: Raven uses a 1/2-inch 12MP Sony sensor, generating HD color point clouds and 4K Gaussian Splatting, and supports optional external 360° cameras. Eagle features a 48MP system with 8K panoramic capability. Raven offers more flexible color capture.
c) Weight: Raven weighs 1.1kg with a detachable battery handle; Eagle weighs 1.5kg with an integrated design. Raven is more portable and easier to carry.
6. What are its application scenarios?
The Raven LiDAR Scanner is a high-precision spatial capture solution designed for diverse professional industries:
a) Architecture & Construction: Capture as-built data to create BIM-ready models for precise project planning and site monitoring.
b) Real Estate & Interiors: Generate digital twins for immersive virtual tours, property marketing, and accurate space planning.
c) Surveying & Mapping: Capture high-density point clouds for infrastructure documentation and large-scale topographical analysis.
d) Media & Gaming: Reconstruct 3D scenes and Gaussian Splatting assets for virtual production, VFX, and interactive content.
e) Cultural Heritage: Digitally archive historical sites and artifacts with high-fidelity detail for restoration and virtual exhibits.
f) Public Safety & Forensics: Rapidly reconstruct accident or crime scenes for precise spatial analysis and permanent evidence preservation.
7. What is the output format?
Raven supports multiple formats, including 3D color point cloud (PLY), color mesh (OBJ), and Gaussian Splatting (PLY).
8. Can Raven scan data be used in third-party point-cloud software?
Yes. Raven supports exporting scan data in standard formats such as LAS/LAZ, PLY, and OBJ, which can be easily imported into widely used software including CloudCompare, Leica Cyclone, FARO Scene, Trimble RealWorks, AutoCAD, and Revit for further processing and analysis.
9. Can I add extensions?
Yes. Raven supports optional accessories, including an RTK Module, Insta360 Kit, TF card, battery grip, backpack kit, bicycle kit, automotive kit, and drone mount.
10. Is its laser safe for humans?
Yes, the laser is safe for the human eye and complies with Safety Class 1 (IEC60825-1:2014). There is nothing to worry about when using the Eagle scanner, but it is not recommended to stare directly at the laser for long periods.
11. What is the safe operating temperature range for the scanner?
The recommended operating range is 0°C - 35°C (32°F - 95°F). The device can withstand temperatures down to -10°C (14°F) in extreme cases, but sub-zero operation is not recommended.
12. What are the processing and storage capabilities of the Raven?
The Raven is powered by a robust 8-core 2.4GHz processor for rapid real-time computing. It comes with 32GB of onboard storage and is easily expandable. A high-speed 128GB microSD card is included to handle massive point cloud files with ease.
13. Can I mount the Raven on a drone? What are the requirements?
Yes. You need a drone with at least 1.1kg (2.4 lbs) payload capacity (e.g., DJI Matrice series). Since the Raven operates independently and requires no integration with the drone's flight system, mounting is a DIY process. We provide the 3D-printable mounting files to help you customize your installation to your specific drone model.
14. Can the Raven be used for nighttime scanning?
Yes. The Raven's LiDAR sensor operates independently of light, allowing for accurate point cloud collection in almost any lighting condition. However, please note that generating color point clouds and 4K Gaussian Splats will be limited by low-light levels, as these features rely on high-quality camera captures.
15. Does the price include VAT, customs duties, and shipping fees?
Please note that additional customs fees may apply based on your country's customs duty regulations. Kindly refer to your local guidelines for customs duties. For further details, please contact us at: service@3dmakerpro.com
16. Will accessories be shipped with the scanner?
We will do our best to ship your items together in one package, though there's a possibility of splitting them due to production progress or customs considerations.
17. When will the shipping start, and what method will be used?
Shipments are expected to begin at the end of March, and the default shipping method is ocean freight (4-6 weeks transit time).
18. Is a warranty included with the launch purchase?
Yes, all our products come with a 2-year warranty.
