Good scans, but you need to prep the targets first

I bought the Lynx to scan car parts so that I could fit custom 3d brackets, etc., to the car (a rally car). Most items in a car are glossy and black, so you need 3d scanner spray, so factor that into your lifetime cost-of-ownership. What surprised me was the distance from the scanner to the object required. This was about one metre. So, make sure that you buy the 4m cable if you are planning on doing much more than the turntable scan. The software is excellent, and never failed to align multiple turntable scans perfectly. The 'easy scan' (handheld), rarely aligned multiple scans automatically, but the JMStudio software made that quite easy.

It does make a difference

Things that are hard or impossible for the scanner to “see” do become scannable. It is nice that there is no cleanup with this product. Do not double spray as I did and it took 12 hours for it to evaporate. Only con is its price so I use it as a last resort.

Love my 🫎

It produces great results if you are patient. You do have to learn how to keep in focus and that requires practice. Something the people who post bad reviews apparently have NOT invested into learning how to use this device. Very satisfied!

Their manuals and YouTube tutorials do leave a lot to be desired.

It is very nice NOT having to deal with those silly reflective dots. I was able to scan a dark wood piece without spraying it, something a friend with a different scanner had to do on the same piece.

Moose Scanner

Great color scanner for what I need. Wish the user manual was more detailed.

arrivato grazie

This this is amazing with cheap tricks up your sleeve

So the accuracy numbers in real life are a little worse than advertised. 0.25mm error on table scan, and 0.5mm error on free scan but this thing scans well.

There's just a couple cheap tricks to get great scans. First use rock climbing chalk fine dust to coat the object to make it more visible in nearIR light. Then attach a point cloud alignment assist ball to the object. I use white styrofoam balls from DollarStore. Match the size of the balls to the size of the object. Use folded over aluminum tape, this will make it double sided to attach the balls to the easiest part of the object where you can slice the balls off after alignment. The company's alignment algorithm is really stupid. It doesn't understand anything on screen. It just aligns cluds of points so theres maximum overlap. It doesn't even understand directions for the objects. The styrofoam balls attached to your object will compensate for half assed coding on the programmers part who wrote the alignment software. But hey this stuff is cheap so for what it costs its amazing. And styrofoam balls are also cheap.

The only other thing I'd say is match the exposure to the color of the object. Black objects need high exposure, white objects need lowest. The graph on the side should look like a purple mountain range with tall peaks and roudned hills. If it's not that you need to do more work to set the scanning parameters or adjust the scanner's distance from the object.

Enjoy!

Moose 3D lite scanner

Well built scanner.

Good, a little loud, no mobile use

The device dies scan even black surfaces and ship I stuff with ease. The greyscsle texture works great for difficult surfaces. It's very sad that the connect device is discontinued, a true outdoor, mobile work is therefore impossible. The website should be more clear about that.

Working well

Awesome tool!

I mainly useing it with a steam deck and a powerbank to scan untethered and i can proccess the scans on the go.
I would give five stars if there was a Linux version of the software, so I didn't have to deal with Microsoft's **** . Or I could connect the scanner while the software is running with proton on Linux.

Moose Lite 3D Scanner

Great little turntable

The multiaxis turntable works well.

Thank you

Nice scanner, maybe will get another one for larger objects

Seal lite is anything but lite

I considered the Seal with the .01mm res and 24-bit color but decided on the Seal Lite as it met my requirements to a tee. The .02mm layer size is generally what I use on my monochrome FDM printer. The Seal Lite is tailored, it seems, to these popular FDM printers.

I recommend getting a rotating stand for precise scanning along with some dry shampoo or Scanner 3D spray for those shinny objects. This scanner does perform free hand scans effortlessly. I would like to upgrade to the mult-axis stand that 3DMAKERPRO has. Looks very professional and integrates with the scanner and software. The included software provides most of the basics for scanning and modeling. Critical scanning and production adjustments are provided and modeling tools help the final product.

The Seal Lite build quality is outstanding. I will likely seek a larger scale scanner in the future and would not hesitate to go with 3DMAKERPRO given the quality and performance of this "Lite" version.
